2026 ELECTION NOTICE
Two (2) Yomba Shoshone Tribal Council Seats are open for election
Poling Location: The Yomba Shoshone Tribal Administration Building
Election Date: Saturday, February 14, 2026
Polls Open 9:00 AM, Polls Close at 5:00 PM
Eligible Voter Definition: Chapter 00-20-070 “Eligible Voter, means a [Yomba Shoshone] Tribal Member who is eighteen (18) years or over, and who has never been convicted of a felony in State, or Federal Court.
Instructions for Absentee Ballots:
Absentee Ballots are available from January 17, 2026 - January 25, 2025. To receive an absentee voter ballot, please email: ystcouncil@gmail.com indicate if you want a physical or digital copy of your ballot. Include your current mailing and email address.
An address to mail your absentee ballot will be included with your ballot.
Absentee Ballots must be received by Tribal Election Board by 11:59 PM on February 13, 2026. If you are mailing your ballot to a physical address, consider mailing up to one week prior to the election to ensure its timely delivery.
To Potential Candidates:
Eligible Candidates must be:
An enrolled member of the Yomba Shoshone Tribe
Have maintained a legal residence on the Yomba Shoshone Indian Reservation for at least 1 year prior to the election
Over 25 years of age
Never been convicted of a felony
Submit your Request for Candidacy by January 17, 2026 to ystcouncil@gmail.com
Indicate the Council Seat you are running for, note that Secretary and Treasurer seats are appointed by Tribal Council.
December 15, 2025 - Post “NOTICE OF ELECTION”
December 20, 2025- Post Eligible Voters List (Post for 30 days)
January 7, 2026 - Questions Regarding Election Ballot Deadline
January 17, 2025 - Submit request for Candidacy Deadline
January 18, 2026 - January 25, 2026 Absentee Ballots are Available
January 22, 2026 - Letters to Candidates Determining Eligibility
January 22, 2026 - Candidate can withdrawal name
January 25, 2026 - Request for Absentee Ballot Deadline
February 13, 2026 - Deadline to Deliver Absentee Ballots
February 14, 2026 - Election Day
February 17, 2026 - Deadline to Challenge the 2026 Tribal Election
