Happy Native American Day, Nevada! A Message from UNLV Indian Nations Gaming.
Today, on the fourth Friday of September, Nevada officially observes Native American Day, a time to honor, celebrate, and reflect on the culture, history, and enduring contributions of the state's Native Peoples.
Nevada rests on the lands of the Nuwuvi (Southern Paiute), Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), Wašišiw (Washoe) and Pipa Aha Macav (Mojave) Tribal Nations. Their deep-rooted knowledge, stewardship of the land, and vibrant traditions continue to enrich our communities and shape our shared history.
Observing Native American Day is more than looking back. It is about recognizing the ongoing contributions of Native leaders, creators, educators, and entrepreneurs driving progress across Nevada today.
